Friday 1st February say the Installation of Sir Knight Brian Henderson as the Preceptor for the incoming year . An even greater attendance as is usual looked resplendent in the refurbished Lodge Room, with many visitors being present. Carrickfergus Preceptory has gone from strength to strength. And continues to grow, with several Brethren being initiated into the Chapter during the year. As with many Chapters the average age is getting older but the Brethren continue to support the Chapter in good numbers.

The Chapter has good reason to celebrate having had several Brethren elevated to posts in the Provincial Priory of East Ulster. First Em. Sir Kt Joseph Corr was installed Persuiveant at Arms followed later in the year by Em. Sir Kt David McIlveen who was installed Persuiveant at Arms at the September meeting. The Happy Brethren are proud to be given this responsibility and although this post is hard work they are enjoying the challenge.

Events in 2007, our 50th. Anniversay year:

The year opened on Friday evening the 2nd. February in the Carrickfergus Masonic Hall, when Sir Kt. Jim Gough was installed Eminent Preceptor for the ensuing year. The newly installed Em. Preceptor performed an excellent Installation of his Officers. The Installation was well attended and the event was honoured with the presence of The High and Very Eminent Prior of the Provincial Priory of East Ulster, George E. J. Field GCT. The High and Very Eminent Prior commented on the degree, saying it was an excellent performance by Em. Sir Kt. David Fullerton, who seemed to take great pride and enjoyment in his work. The evening was well organised and under control of our Marshal, Em. Sir Kt. William Mcllveen. Later in the evening The High and Very Eminent Prior commented on the excellent organisation for the evening. He was able to leave for home at 10.3Opm (he stated that was an early night for him).

The Provincial Priory of East Ulster held their May Conclave in Carrickfergus Masonic Hall. The Conclave held on Saturday, 12 May was the first visit to Carrickfergus by the Provincial Priory of East Ulster. The Brethren of Carrickfergus Preceptory turned out at 8.30am on the Saturday morning to move chairs and tables and organise the function room to seat 150. All was mostly in order when V. Em. Sir Kt. Sam Richardson's work squad arrived with the Provincial Priory equipment, including the organ. After having a good look around, the squad decided that they were far enough ahead with the preparations in the work that had been done for them by the Carrickfergus members that they could all go off to O'Neil's Bakery for a fry-up. Em. Sir Kt. Selby Nesbitt arrived at the hall a little later, and was directed down to O'Neil's where he found the squad enjoying cream buns and coffee, (I still don't know who paid).

The Conclave was well attended with 158 Sir Knights present. Unfortunately one of the speakers was not working properly and those at the back of the hall could not fully hear what was being said, but were consoled afterwards with tea and sandwiches laid on for them by our Ladies.

Our Anniversary Church Service for Knight Templars was held in Joymount Presbyterian Church, at 3.3Opm on Sunday, 20th May. The Service was conducted by the Rev. Richard Graham, Minister of Joymount and the sermon was given by V. Em. Sir Kt. Rev. Charles McCurdy. Praise was led by the church Organist Em. Sir Kt. John McIlwaine. A total of 152 Brethren and 11 ladies turned out for the service on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Having received permission, the Banner of Carrickfergus Preceptory was escorted into the church by Sir Kts. George Huey, Brian and Maurice Henderson through the Guard of Honour formed by the Brethren of Carrickfergus Preceptory.

After the service tea and biscuits were provided in the church hall. The High and Very Eminent Prior thanked the Most Eminent and Supreme Grand Master, Gordon V. Bradshaw GCT and the High and Very Eminent Prior of the Provincial Priory of South Ulster, S. Gordon Leathem BEM GCT and other guests and ladies for their attendance at the service.

On a sad note we mourned the death of our past Treasurer, Em. Sir Kt. James A. Adamson, 'Jim', who had given 32 years service to the Preceptory and who had been ill for some time. The Rev. Richard Graham conducted Jim's funeral service in Joymount. We will miss his presence at our Conclaves and our prayers and thoughts go out to his family.

The Great Preceptory of Instruction met in the Whiteabbey Masonic Centre on Tuesday, 30th October and Carrickfergus Preceptory carried out an exemplification.

The 50th Anniversary Dinner was held at our November Conclave as the final event and we were delighted to have the High and Very Eminent Prior, George E. J. Field GCT in attendance along with a number of Great Priory and Provincial Priory officers. The High and Very Eminent Prior said that it was a great pleasure to be present to help Carrickfergus Preceptory celebrate this wonderful milestone. He, along with R Em. Sir Kt Jack Long KCT were presented with gifts of Belfast Crystal and everyone present received an engraved Crystal Whiskey Glass.

We would like to welcome our latest member, Sir Kt William Downs and hope he enjoys his time with us. The membership now stands at 52 with three new candidates being processed. All in all we have had a good Anniversary year.
